The Cowboys are tipping their off-season hand. They intend to keep DE Anthony Spencer by tagging him, while working out a long-term extension. At the same time, they appear to be pushing safety to the top tier of their draft wish list.

The Cowboys have taken a similar move today, releasing safety Gerald Sensabaugh, a starter the last four years, providing a baseline of unspectacular play. He was better than many of the alternatives the team has tried in the last decade, but that's faint praise.
Dallas has needed a quality safety or two for years, and now the Cowboys have forced themselves to improve the position. The projected starters as of this minute are Barry Church, he of the re-habbing Achilles tendon, and Matt Johnson, whose tricky hamstring scuttled his 2012 campaign.
